r/all sunset: default front page redirects to personalized Home feed
On April 2, 2026, Reddit formally phased out r/all as a shared, unfiltered front page. Users hitting r/all now get redirected to their personalized Home feed. This ends the era of a common Reddit 'discovery surface' that any user could compete for regardless of subreddit affiliation. Reach on Reddit is now personalized by default.
What this means for you
For healthcare practices posting to Reddit: the era of 'go viral on r/all' is over. Distribution now happens inside relevant subreddits (r/therapists, r/mentalhealth, r/askdocs, etc.) and to users whose behavior signals interest. Practical implication: focused posting in 3-5 highly relevant subreddits will always outperform broad posting across many. Build trust and posting history within specific communities.

Following Google's 2024 deal with Reddit for AI training data, Reddit threads have become dominant citation sources in Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT search results. Reddit roughly doubled its share of AI citations from ~2.3% (Nov 2025) to ~4.5% (June 2026). Reddit is now the second most-cited domain overall in AI-generated search results, behind only Wikipedia. In consolidated AI citations, Reddit alone accounts for ~40% share.
What this means for you
This is the single biggest 2026 SEO shift for healthcare content: Reddit threads that answer patient questions now show up in AI Overviews for the same searches your site is optimized for. Practical implication: monitor Reddit threads mentioning your specialty and consider participating authentically (not spammy self-promotion, subreddit mods will ban that fast). A well-answered Reddit reply can now compound into AI-cited traffic for months.
